Drumshanbo’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade will kick off at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 16th, with Eamon McGowan, Leitrim Volunteer of the Year, acting as grand marshal. He will lead the parade, which will enter town from the Carrick Road, travel down the Main Street, and head up Church Street. Drumshanbo is putting the final touches to its 2022 St Patrick’s Day Parade. This is a local community effort put together by volunteers so please support. The event will start at 4pm on Thursday, March 17th on the Carrick Road, at the junction to the Corryard Wood estate. For one, St. Patrick's Day occurs during Lent, the 40-day period preceding Easter that, for Catholics and several other Christian denominations, is marked by austerity and abstinence. St Patrick’s National School (then known as Drumshanbo Central School) first opened its doors to pupils (189) and teachers in November 1974. It was built on church land donated by the parish.
